Municipal Attorneys Defend Privacy Interests Of NJ State Firemen's Association

Parker McCay Wins NJ Supreme Court OPRA Decision
August 11, 2017

George Morris led the efforts of Parker McCay Municipal and Government attorneys in successfully defending the privacy interests of more than 77,000 members of the New Jersey State Firemen's Association by winning a novel case before the New Jersey Supreme Court. The decision creates new law and permits government agencies to use the Declaratory Judgment Action to interpret the Open Public Records Act. This case started two years ago when George attempted to protect our client's interests by challenging the wording of the Act to prevent release of personal information on relief applications including the need to even disclose if an application was made or a relief check was issued.
