"Route 55 Brownfield Project" Receives National Attention

As Special Redevelopment Counsel to Mantua Township, the Firm assisted this municipal client in multiple redevelopment initiatives including (i) facilitating the reuse of an exhausted quarry into the expansion and development of a new STEM educational fossil park under the umbrella of a local university; (ii) obtaining a significant amount of United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Brownfield assessment and cleanup funding, designating several redevelopment areas, and selection of a Brownfield redeveloper for a recreational, smart growth redevelopment project; and (iii) additional redevelopment projects converting underutilized areas to large scale mixed use projects, and affordable housings for the Township. The Mantua “Route 55 Brownfield Project” received national attention in the December 2006 publication of Brownfield News, as the first project in the country to receive special federal technical assistance for redevelopment planning, at no cost to the Township.
