It is with profound sadness that Parker McCay mourns the passing of Barry T. Parker, a beloved member of our firm and, for decades, its heart and soul and a true ambassador for Parker McCay.
Mr. Parker devoted his distinguished legal career to governmental and administrative law, with a particular focus on healthcare, insurance, private and public law, public finance, and bond counsel matters. His commitment to his clients, his profession, and the communities he served was evident throughout his remarkable career.
His public service was equally distinguished. Mr. Parker served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1966 to 1971, serving as Assistant Majority Leader in 1970 and as Speaker and Acting Governor in 1971. He subsequently served in the New Jersey State Senate from 1972 to 1981, including as Minority Leader from 1980 to 1981.
His service extended well beyond the legislature and courtroom. He served on the Boards of Directors of the Mount Holly and Elizabethtown Water Companies, as General Counsel to the New Jersey State Firemen’s Association, and as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He was also a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and Burlington County Bar Association.
But perhaps Mr. Parker’s greatest legacy was the people and relationships he cultivated throughout his life. He had an extraordinary ability to connect with others, build lasting relationships, and make people feel valued. He represented Parker McCay with warmth, integrity, and genuine pride, leaving an enduring mark on our firm and on the many lives he touched.
We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Parker’s family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His legacy will remain an important part of the Parker McCay family.
